Founded by Dr. Charles Yahr, DC, CPE and Jane Yahr, BS, CPE in 1988, Yahr Electrolysis had been proudly leading the permanent hair removal industry in Pittsburgh. Now owned and operated by Jamie Ober, CPE accompanied by Alyssa Sortino, Julie Pasquella, Danielle Seibert, Jaide Richards, and Lindsay Rusnic. Ober Yahr Electrolysis carries on the Yahr legacy.
Electrolysis is the only permanent hair removal method approved by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration). Electrolysis treatment will provide permanent hair removal of all hairs of any color or thickness on facial and body areas.
The FDA considers Laser Hair Removal to be hair reduction, not permanent hair removal. Laser Hair Removal will not be effective on facial hair of any color due to the hormonal nature of facial hair. This makes Electrolysis the preferred method of permanent hair removal.

Since Pennsylvania is one of 18 states that does not license electrolysis as a profession, it is critical to seek an electrologist with the appropriate credentials, Certified Professional Electrologist (CPE) signifies that the electrologist's knowledge has been tested and measured against a national standard of excellence. The commitment to keep the credential, through on-going continuing education, exemplifies the highest degree of professionalism. There are currently only 17 Certified Professional Electrologists in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
